- Apply ‘Decategorizer’ Plugin for Cleaner URLs.
Amongst the most obvious way in customizing the look of your blog’s urls is using clean permalinks. But that’s an obvious one. No self-respecting blogger would fail to enable custom urls, which can be done easily through the WPdashboard.
Although one thing you can’t do through the dashboard is removing the Word ‘category’ from links pointing to specific categories on your site.
That’s where Decategorizer comes in handy. Such plug-in lets you strip the word ‘category’ out of the WordPress urls, giving a much more cleanerexperience, taking away the “blog” look and contributing to a more customized, branded feel for your website.
Decategorizer also creates 301 redirections for all your old category links and works with subcategories.
Such plugin had a few bugs, which were fixed and also requires that you install the Redirection plugin for it to work properly. Make sure to carefully read the documentation and installation guides for such plugins to ensure they’reinstalled and functioning well.
-Metadata customization for individual posts.
Each post has a ‘metadata’ contained in paragraph tags at the bottom of eachblog post. This data is generated dynamically through the loop that pulls your content out of the database. You can easily edit, modify or delete any pieces of data displayed with each entry. This is located inside of the index.php file in your theme directory. Your default look for a metadata section should look like this in WordPress 2.7.1:
